ANIMATION

Course Animation

The animation is based on the fixation of objects movement phases – their position, shape, size, color. This operation is called “timing”. Timing – the “invisible” part of the art of animation; imperceptible to the viewer, it may be the root cause of the highest success or complete failure.

Who is the animator? Animator is the actor who generates his own ideas about the game that way how it makes by a movie actor. The smallest particle of action – a single frame or image – is entirely the responsibility of the animator, here they can show their skill. How the ball is jumping? How does the character surprise? These tasks are solved by an animator.

Animation film is a kind of caricature. Natural motion animation looks dull and lifeless, the main thing is what the underlying cause of the movement is. Carefully peer into every move, remove it from the minor, and the remaining exaggerate to the extreme!

At the beginning of the animation in the Disney Company developed 12 basic laws and principles of animation. The knowledge and their application in practice will help you to make your animation more attractive and lively.

This course is created to learn all the basic laws and principles of classical animation, which allows young animators to acquire basic knowledge and understanding the constructive method of creating a cartoon.

During this course you will create the basic collection of works, therefore you can apply to animation studios. Doing the exercises and reading the examples, you will understand the causal law of motion, learn how to feel the weight, the speed of the subject, to create the right walk, you also will do the exercise with the dialogue. Each example will be discussed in details and you will see videos and examples from everyday life.

In this course you will learn:

  • 1 MODULE: Introduction to Maya

    • animator’s interface, animation curves;
    • gimbal lock, graph editor;
    • attributes, hierarchy;
    • joints, skinning.
  • 2 MODULE: The basics of the setup

      • constraints;
      • IK;
      • driven keys;
      • node editor.
  • 3 MODULE: Practice (ball with a tail)

    • spline IK;
    • animation rules (secondary motion).
  • 4 MODULE: Setup of te ball with legs

    • walking and running (lower half of the body);
    • animation rules (balance).
  • 5 MODULE: ART Unreal rigging & animation

      • practice: character setup and skinning;
      • task:character setup and skinning;
      • task: making poses by yourselves;
      • from pose to animation (idle animation);
      • task: idle.
  • 6 MODULE: Animation

    • walking of a two-legged character;
    • running of a two-legged character;
    • jump (beginning and end of movement);
    • animation of the attack (preparation, reaching, overlap);
    • animation of wall jumping;
    • Checking works – life after courses.
